Yesteday we had our second Hub lunch event. It was a great success, a lot of people came (members, friends of the Hub and also some new faces!). Mira Bangel and Oihana Gómez gave us simple and effective explanations about blogging & social media and a wide overview on benefits & challenges of these tools in business.
Mira showed us some best-practise examples on how to blog as a business and how to engage with e-fluencials. On the other hand, Oihana shared some insights of how to manage the information flow through the different communication platforms in the net.
Among all the interesting people who came to the Hub on Monday the Hub Connect, Jean-Yves Huwart of Entreprise Globale interviewed Alexander Riedl.
Alexander Riedl is the co-founder of the HUB in Brussels. The HUB is a community of innovative entrepreneurs who want to get connected with peers. There could be startups, people shifting their career, social entrepreneurs, long haul travelrs or just people with idea. The project they are building intend to bring some meaning.
The HUB in Brussels is part of an international network of other HUB in more than 15 cities around the world. All the members consider themself as part of that broad community.
The Big Ask again is an initiative of the Belgian film director Nic Balthazar, whose film “Ben X” won many prizes, in cooperation with the Climate Coalition and with the support of Alain Hubert.
The Climate Coalition is a broad Belgian platform, bringing together all the environmental organisations, various social and cultural associations, and North-South groups from across the country. Its mission is to pool the resources of its members. In 2009 it is focusing on the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen.
Hub lunches are an informal way of peer-to-peer knowledge sharing. The Hub Brussels organizes once a week a gathering over lunch to share knowledge and experiences about a topic of common interest.
Last monday, Caroline Zeller (one of the Hub Brussels hosts), in collaboration with Otman from Generation Palestine, held the first Hub Lunch in The Hub Brussels.
Caroline showed us a video about her recent trip to Palestine in which, together with a group of students, touched the reality of the area and conducted an artwork that symbolized their feelings and experiences in Palestine.
On the other hand, Otman explained the work that Generation Palestine performs and introduced us the political and historical context of the country.
On the 25th of june we celebrated THE SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURS evening at The Hub Brussels. 3 members of the Hub Brussels presented their projects and we organized a member case study for each of them. They got many good ideas for developping their projects from the participants!! They are Filip van Mullem (hubu), Armand Bogaarts (open minds) and Alexia Willems (upnow). Check out their member profiles on our website www.the-hub.be, in the “members” section.
Afterwards, we opened a networking session. We enjoyed meeting new social entrepreneurs, the food and the drinks!!!
